After five days the world trade fair of the consumer goods industry ended Febuary 14th. In total, 142,000 buyers from 154 countries (2016: 135.988 from 142 countries) visited the most important international fair for consumer goods. This represents an increase of almost four per cent. 4,454 exhibitors from 96 countries (2016: 4,386 from 95 countries) showed innovations and trends in 27 halls, covering an area of 308,000 gross square meters.
 
"Ambiente is the world's top meeting of the consumer goods industry," says Detlef Braun, Managing Director Messe Frankfurt. With 55 per cent, more than half of all trade fair visitors came from abroad to the main metropolis. In addition, the international share of exhibitors was at record levels of 80 percent. Both German and international top decision-makers of all trade forms were more strongly represented than one year ago. This ensured good export business and the best atmosphere in the halls. The top ten visitors to Germany were Italy, China, France, USA , Spain, the United Kingdom, Netherlands, Switzerland, South Korea and Turkey. From the United Kingdom, this year's Partnerland of Ambiente, more than 3,000 visitors came to Frankfurt and thus around 200 buyers more than in the previous year. In addition, there were overproportional visitor growth from the countries of China, Hong Kong and Taiwan as well as Vietnam, but also the USA , Canada, Australia and Russia as well as the United Arab Emirates and South American nations such as Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina.
