Leitz, the premium brand from Acco Brands, focuses on sustainability, because the original and the classic file folder with cloud marble paper is now also climate neutral. It is also the subject of the current cover story in the March issue of the PBS Report.

He is a pioneer of sustainability - he has been awarded the Blue Angel for more than 25 years and has been FSC- certified since 2011 . The folder also stands for high quality and therefore longevity. In order to compensate for the unavoidable remaining emissions from production, Leitz also supports a certified climate protection project. This commitment enables the climate neutrality of the folder to be certified and confirmed by ClimatePartner, a leading solution provider for corporate climate protection.

The “Taking Care of Tomorrow” sustainability strategy was established in the company for Europe ten years ago. The areas of environmental awareness, responsible use of resources and industrial relations were examined.

“We at LEITZ always strive for innovations and want to offer products that have as little impact on the environment as possible. We want to reduce our ecological footprint, ”explains Ard-Jen Spijkervet, Leitz Acco Brands Vice President Central Europe based in Stuttgart. “An example of this are the many products that have already received environmental certification in the past. But now we have recently set ourselves the goal of producing our best-selling files, the number 1 in Germany, CO2 and climate-neutral. "

What does that mean exactly? "With the help of an established and reputable partner based in Germany, we measured the entire carbon footprint of our files; from the materials used to the processes to transport. We were able to significantly reduce this footprint thanks to the lean production model in our plants with efficient processes and very little waste. ”The low remaining emissions are offset by the support of a certified climate protection project. The FSC certification also signals that only paper made from wood from responsible forestry is used in the production of Leitz files.

Quality is the best sustainability

factor Leitz products are always built to last, because quality is the best sustainability factor. The long product life cycles are achieved through the use of high-quality materials, which is why a large number of Leitz products are guaranteed for up to ten years.

Leitz also adheres to the lean strategy and kaizen philosophy to minimize waste in production. As a result, emissions savings in the factories have been achieved for many years - 4 million kilograms less CO2 are emitted each year compared to 2010. This corresponds to the emission values of 22 million car kilometers. However, other measures such as the use of recycled materials and the reduction of packaging also help to minimize the carbon footprint. 99.5 percent of the company's paper and cardboard is either recycled or FSC certified.
