Writing instruments manufacturer Stabilo reported growth of 5% in its Writing Instruments category for the year ended 30 June 2018.
Revenue was €193.4 million ($219.4 million), primarily due to the strong growth of highlighters in soft pastel shades which set new sales records for the company. Stabilo said production at its Weissenburg site in Germany had almost doubled in this segment compared to the previous year.
According to Stabilo Managing Director Sebastian Schwanhäußer, one in every two highlighters sold in Europe during the year was a Stabilo, making it number one in Germany and second in Europe for the category. Looking forward, Schwanhäußer expects this growth to continue in the current fiscal year.
Overall sales for the manufacturer fell 4% to €685.4 million, mainly due to losses in its Cosmetics division.
