The overall office market with the individual markets for office furniture, PBS products and PC / software reach a sales volume of € 54.3 billion in 2017. As a result, the industry is recording a considerable increase of 3.3 percent, as did the new "branch focus office business" of IFH Cologne and BBETrading advice shows. A look at the submarkets, however, shows a different development: While 15.9 billion euros are spent on office equipment and supplies, PCs and software can book 38.4 billion euros. Looking more closely at the market for office equipment and supplies, it becomes clear that sales in the individual submarkets between 2016 and 2017 are stagnating or growing only moderately, with growth of 0.1 to 0.6 percent. Significantly more is spent on equipment and consumables in the EU. This is also reflected in the gains of the individual markets, each of which can post a plus of two percent.

"The significantly higher sales momentum in the EU is partly due to the fact that, in particular, Eastern European countries are no longer at the beginning of their economic development, but still have a strong demand for new office equipment and consumables. In the western EU countries, one can rather observe a slight decline ", says Uwe Krüger, Senior Consultant at IFH Cologne.
