Three weeks before the start of the CeBIT 2017 in Hanover, the digital economy looks to the future: in every third company (33 percent), the digital transformation of the economy is concluded by 2025. One in five (19 percent) expected it to last until 2041. And 39 percent believe that the digital transformation will never be completed. This is clear from the current industry barometer of the digital association Bitkom.

CeBIT (20 to 24 March) will focus on the "d! Conomy" - the digital transformation of all economic sectors. "Digital transformation offers great opportunities for added value, higher prosperity and more employment. The German economy must take this challenge even more strongly, "says Bitkom CEO Bernhard Rohleder. According to a representative Bitkom survey, 93 per cent of companies complain about digitalization. The greatest difficulties are, therefore, with regard to data protection and IT security, personnel and internal coordination. "Every company needs to develop a digital strategy. This makes internal processes much easier, "says Rohleder, who advocates a faster pace in digital transformation.

Bitkom is currently conducting a study on current developments and perspectives in the digital transformation of business and society. The results will be presented at CeBIT Monday (March 20). Bitkom also presents studies on the topics of Industrial 4.0 and Digital Office. Other Bitkom projects at the fair include:

* Bitkom's booth "hub CeBIT“* Auf seinem Hauptstand „hub CeBIT" (Hall 4, Booth C58) brings Bitkom leading players of the digital transformation from different areas to the CeBIT and makes "d! Conomy" tangible. A dozen companies present innovative products and solutions. The Media-Saturn holding company, for example, shows its robot Paul, who is not only leading small talks in the electronics retailer's branches but is also advising customers. The solution already convinced various investors, such as the high-tech founder fund, which together invested a seven-digit amount. Another example is the start-up inspiration from Berlin with solutions of artificial intelligence. The start-up workaround from Munich develops a smart glove for the industry. The ProGlove is intended to provide more efficiency in the production process by giving workers feedback on their work steps or replacing barcode scanners. Workaround's customers include BMW and Penny. The Düsseldorf start-up aconno enables inventors, start-ups and start-ups to implement ideas in the Internet of Things (IoT) quickly and easily, especially in Smart Home. Bitkom Security Cooperation Cybercrime Data
theft, espionage and sabotage are an increasing threat to the German economy. A loss of estimated 51 billion euros is incurred annually. The perpetrators often act abroad, belong to organized crime or are even supported by governments. This requires joint responses from security authorities and companies. For this reason, the Central Contact Points for Cybercrime of the Land Criminal Police Office ( ZAC ) and Bitkom have entered into a security cooperation, which is presented in Hall 6, Stand K39. Companies will receive information on how to protect themselves against cyberattacks and how the police can help.

Promoting SMEs through broadband expansion
The broadband summit (20 March, from 14:30 to 16:30, Hall 7, Stand D68) is a joint event organized by the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure ( BMVI ), Initiative D21 and Bitkom. Digital infrastructures are a success factor for companies. A lack of access to efficient networks is a clear competitive disadvantage. The BMVI has therefore initiated 2017, the SME support program to connect businesses in commercial areas of the fiber optic network.
